LPG (Liquified Petroleum Gas) is a versatile and portable fuel composed primarily of propane and butane, commonly used for heating, cooking, and as an alternative fuel for vehicles. It is stored under moderate pressure in liquid form, LPG is clean-burning, energy-efficient, and widely utilized in residential, commercial, and industrial applications. LPG is colourless & odourless, which makes it difficult to detect leaks without an added odorant. To ensure public safety, gas companies are required to add a strong-smelling substance, typically mercaptan, to make gas detectable in case of a leak. Statutory compliance regarding LPG odorization mandates that gas companies meet certain concentration standards for the odorant in the gas. These regulations are monitored by respective countries statutory boards to meet statutory compliance. Compliance is vital to prevent accidents, protect public health, and ensure that leaks are quickly identified and addressed.
